Course overview: ​This Fire Marshal Training and Fire Warden Training Course is designed to assist the employer in providing sufficient instruction and training to meet the bulk of the legal requirements as referred to in the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 12 (3) (a) & (b), 14 (1) (a) & (b), 18, & 20. It covers staff evacuation procedures and equips attendees with an appropriate level of understanding to carry out the role of the Fire Warden or Fire Marshal safely in their workplace.

​The certified course includes; -​

 

  • Fire legislation - Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 & Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006​

  • The significant findings of the fire risk assessment (if provided)

  • Company fire safety procedures

  • Fire Safety Measures and Systems​

  • Causes of fire​

  • The nature of fire and smoke

  • Human behaviour in fires

  • Classification of fires and types of fire extinguishers

  • Fire marshal and fire warden non-emergency and emergency duties

  • Fire drills

  • Fire hazard spotting

  • Staff fire training

  • Fire marshal and fire warden emergency duties

  • Evacuation systems and accounting methods

  • Fire extinguisher inspection and their use in an emergency

  • Candidates will then be given the opportunity to use the fire extinguishing appliances

Who should attend: ​Staff with specific duties in the event of fire, such as the nominated competent persons who have a responsibility for implementing the company fire evacuation procedure or a direct responsibility for developing or improving existing evacuation procedures.

Specialised course content: There are special versions of this course where the content is varied to address the particular fire safety risks presented by different environments and individual organisations.                      Examples are for Residential Homes, and Educational establishments.
